Food4CE promotes sustainable food supply

In a world where food production, logistics and distribution are of paramount importance, the need for efficient, sustainable and cost-effective supply chains has never been greater. The European Food4CE project, funded under the INTERREG Central Europe programme, aims to support alternative food networks (AFNs) in their efforts to create sustainable and resilient food supply systems.

ECONSULT, as a logistics consultancy, is proud Austrian partner and contributes its know-how together together with other experts in logistics, agriculture and business support from 6 different European countries with the aim of facilitating knowledge sharing and cooperation between different actors and regions, improving AFN's logistics processes and lowering their costs while promoting sustainability and reducing the carbon footprint of the food supply chain.

Conference Logistics Property

The last mile has become the central issue in times of rising emissions, impending diesel driving bans, the expansion of pedestrian zones, the increasing desire to minimize traffic and not least also massively increasing customer requirements - keyword "same-day delivery". Suitable logistics space and logistics real estate are of primary importance for the new forms of urban logistics, and the interface in the transport chain is getting closer to and into the cities and sometimes directly to the customer.

Jürgen Schrampf of ECONSULT took over chairmanship and moderation at the imh conference "Logistics Real Estate" on February 27, 2018. The main content was the consideration of the new roles and functions of logistics real estate in connection with sustainable logistics solutions.

Exciting projects and concepts were presented and discussed - among others with experts from the real estate development, the electromobility research, with start-ups in the direct sales as well as the branch experts of UPS and DPD. The subject of micro-depot was discussed intensively, as there are already "lessons learned" from the first pilot projects and new concepts for the future.

Martin Schmid reports on the successful collaboration at Smart Campus

In the course of the construction of the "Smart Campus" of Wiener Netze, ECONSULT took over the planning and realization of several operational areas. In addition to the conceptual design of the layout and storage facilities, specifications for building design and building technology have been elaborated.

Based on that ECONSULT prepared the tender for the workshop equipment and warehouse technology and supported the selection of the best supplier. META Regaltechnik was awarded the contract and fulfilled this order with the support of ECONSULT.

This successful collaboration was the reason to invite Martin Schmid to present this best practice project at the international export conference 2017, which took place in Vienna this year. Representatives of the trade partners and daughters from many countries followed the invitation and took the opportunity to visit the implementation on site.

Fit for future - ECONSULT starts 2016 with a new organisation

The logistics consultant ECONSULT is starting a new era in 2016. For one year the company has prepared the management buy-out, now the new organization is implemented.

After more than 20 years as CEO Christian Skaret (62) becomes head of the newly established advisory board. He stays partner and supports the team in the fields of acquisitions and market development. In the course of the buy-out the established management team acquires the majority of the company stake. Jürgen Schrampf becomes second director and joins Martin Schmid who has become director in 2009. Harald Zwölfer and Gerhard Kwasnitzka complete the new management team. Like that ECONSULT remains privately financed and will stay able to guarantee absolute neutrality at the planning and execution of all projects.

Together the new management team stands for continuity in logistics consulting focused on implementation. ECONSULT will boost its market position by providing quality and a strong focus on the clients' needs. The successful way of internationalisation of the last years will be continued as the Austrian logistics know how abroad guarantees success. At the moment ECONSULT works on projects in more than 10 countries worldwide.

Innovations in the fields of technology and organization will become another strong focus in the future. ECONSULT will stay a reliable planning partner for its clients from strategic consulting to operational realization.

ECONSULT receives the Clusterland Appreciation Award 2013

ECONSULT together with its project partners received the Clusterland Appreciation Award 2013 for the project "Regional Logistics Feeder Line Traisental". The project was the winner in the category "Most successful co-operation project" The prize which was awarded for the 5th time this year is donated from the Raiffeisen banking group together with ecoplus, The Business Agency of Lower Austria. With awarding extraordinary ideas and projects Lower Austrian companies shall be motivated to cooperate which will help them strengthen their competitiveness.

The project started when plans arised to close down the 17 km of the rail line between Freiland and St. Aegyd am Neuwalde. This would have forced the regional companies to shift their transports from rail to road which would have caused 4,000 additional truck tours resp. 1,000 tons of CO2 emissions per year.

The problem is the development of an alternative model for the operating and the operator of the line. Comprehensive activities of analysis, planning, coordination and motivation were necessary. Questions of transport, its quantities, frequencies and cost as well as alternative considerations have been analysed, compared and adjusted. For many companies involved it was the first time that they analysed their data this way.

At April 1, 2012 a regional operating company started to operate the line. Econsult was involved into the project from generating the idea to its realization.
